ASLE Seeks Associate Editors for ISLE Journal 14 décembre 2017

ISLE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment is the official journal of the Association for the Study of Literature and Environment.

ASLE Seeks Associate Editors for ISLE Journal
ISLE seeks to explore the relation between human beings and the natural world, and publishes articles from literary scholars, environmental historians, specialists in the visual and performing arts, environmental philosophers, geographers, economists, ecologists, and scholars in other fields relevant to “literature and environment.” The journal also publishes poetry, fiction, and literary nonfiction pertinent to its thematic focus.
For more than 25 years, ISLE has been the leading journal in the field of ecocriticism. It became a quarterly journal in 2009, published in conjunction with Oxford University Press, and continues to grow and evolve. As part of this evolution, the journal is instituting a new editorial model and seeking 2-3 Associate Editors to begin in July 2018.

Associate Editors will serve for two years and, at the end of this term, will have the opportunity to apply to be the Editor for another two years if desired.  Associate Editors should be members of ASLE.

Workload is approximately 10 hours per month. There may be weeks when no ISLE work is necessary and other weeks when more is required. Responsibilities include:
    1.    Recommending reviewers for submissions.
    2.    Reading and evaluating manuscripts.
    3.    Shadowing the decision-making and author communication process after manuscript reports have been received.
    4.    Proofreading page proofs before accepted manuscripts appear on advance access.
    5.    Shadowing Editor in the process of constructing tables of contents for upcoming issues.
    6.    Helping to proofread issue proofs.
    7.    Mentoring and collaborating with graduate student assistants.

To apply, please submit a CV and 1- to 2-page letter to info@asle.org by January 15, 2018 stating the reasons you wish to serve as an Associate Editor and the editorial philosophy you would bring to ISLE. Note that we are not seeking a grand vision for transforming the journal.
