Research Seminar : Imagining the Transition to Sustainable Societies
"After the first seminar entitled Times of Transition (Valencia, November 2016) devoted to analyzing the current ecosocial crisis and the contribution of the humanities to a more sustainable paradigm, we aim to deal with the challenges of this transition process in an affirmative way. The second seminar addresses the difficulties related to the communication of the crisis and to the representation and narration of new ecological social models, as well as the profound changes that must occur in our collective imagination.

The seminar will include invited talks centered on the symbolic understanding of more sustainable and resilient social models, three workshops (on nature writing, photography and sustainability and communicating the crisis), the presentation of art projects and papers selected through this call; debate sessions and the presentation of the Spanish network of art and nature centers (El Cubo Verde / The Green Cube).

The 2nd research seminar presents a decidedly inter and transdisciplinary approach, appealing to the analytical and creative dimensions of the humanities to generate new visions, enabling societies to move collaboratively towards a culture of sustainability.

We invite researchers, philosophers, sociologists, historians, anthropologists, psychologists, literary and cultural critics, artists, curators, writers, poets and cultural producers to send their proposals (a 200-word abstract in English or Spanish and a short CV) to ecohumanidades@upv.es by September 5th, 2017.
Selected papers will be published as digital proceedings with ISBN."
